Ms. Sparks is a shareholder at Hoge, Fenton, Jones & Appel, Inc., in San Jose and chairs the firm's Privacy and Data Security Group. She counsels businesses on privacy and data security issues, including compliance with the Health and Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). She assists firm clients prepare for, and she manages all aspects of data breach incidents, whether resulting from lost or stolen laptops to hacking of servers. She also leads the firm’s Electronic Discovery Team, given her specialized knowledge in computer forensics and electronic discovery.
